Having heard MPs from all parties complain about the BBC’s bias in the almost 40 years that I’ve written about politics, I concluded a long time ago that it wasn’t really biased at all party politics. Even in a reputable society as populated by Bolsheviks as the BBC, there is always someone – including among the Bolsheviks themselves – who can be found to say something derogatory about some aspect of the Labor Party; and as for the Lib Dems, the BBC hardly seems to notice their existence these days.

When I heard criticism from Nadine Dorries, the Culture Secretary, in the House of Commons on Monday about the future of the Society, I thought the BBC had been planning this for some time. It’s not the political bias that’s the problem: it’s the liberal mindset (and I’m using the word in the American sense) that he instinctively applies to any issue in a way that probably 70 or 80% of its viewers and listeners do not.

The BBC has been at the forefront of what we now call ‘woke’: first respecting, then embracing, every posturing, trope and buzzword that comes its way. And, in pursuit of a younger audience, he seems to have done so because he thinks a high proportion of young people share those views. They may be right, thanks to the nature of the indoctrination they now receive in what passes for their college education. Unfortunately for the BBC, it won’t be long before many of these young people grow up intellectually and also find his tone offensive.

How to use a wellness wheel for a balanced life

The concept of “well-being” is not just about your records in a doctor’s office. A more personal approach is to use a “wellness wheel” that highlights the personal dimensions of your life: physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, financial, professional and social.

Physical
Well-being begins with taking good care of your body. This includes eating healthy foods and limiting sweets; get enough sleep; and exercise based on your strengths, limitations and interests. If weak knees prevent you from running or cycling, try low-impact activities like yoga, walking, or gardening. If you are not interested in sports in cold weather, try dancing lessons. And above all: smoking decreases your life expectancy and causes many diseases.

Emotional
Your sense of well-being is strongly influenced by the way you deal with life and your relationships with others. In a world now filled with social media and ‘fear of missing out’, it can be difficult to focus on your own feelings and deal with personal setbacks. MUMBAI: As the state reports a steady decline in Covid-19 cases, a group of parents in the city have called on the government to reopen physical schools for all grades.
The parents also wrote an open letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, highlighting the issues with e-learning and the impact of the pandemic on their children. The petition has been signed by over 1,800 people. The group is also running a campaign called #OpenMumbaiSchools on social media platforms. “Sir, our children have fallen behind in learning because of online school. Gayatri Sabharwal, a mother of two, said regular schools had resumed in most countries around the world. “As it stands, everything is open. Children go to malls, playgrounds and birthday parties, but are not allowed to go to school. In addition, we parents want the best for our children and we urge the government to allow the reopening of physical schools for all, ”Sabharwal said. She said the standard operating procedure should be left to schools and parents for better implementation of safety precautions. “We spoke to many pediatricians and they said it was safe for the kids to go to school. Tanya Dere, mother of a six-year-old girl, said children suffer in silence, their mental health, their physical health and even their intellectual health are affected.

Copper Hills High School Community The Health Club is hosting a Run It Forward 5K fundraiser on November 20. The race starts at Copper Hills High School, 5445 New Bingham Highway, at 10 o ‘clock. The bib distribution will start at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $ 15. Registration forms are available at the CHHS Wellness Center or online via the club’s Facebook page and on Instagram @chhschw.

Club members will also be collecting food donations for the Utah Food Bank. 5K participants and race spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable items and will receive a raffle ticket for each box of food they donate.

The participation fee of $ 15 will go towards the club’s budget to fund this year’s projects. The goal of the club is to raise health awareness and help students take care of all aspects of their well-being, including mental, emotional, physical, financial, spiritual, environmental and intellectual health.

“I think a lot of the health issues we see today stem from a lack of education on how mental health and physical health affect each other,” said a club member. “Everyone knows there is a mental health crisis, but no one is doing anything, and I think it’s so problematic.”

One of the biggest health issues for young people is that they don’t know how to deal with their stress, a club member said. Many struggle and don’t realize the effect this is having on their mental health.

The students said the stigma surrounding mental health prevents many people from seeking help. By raising awareness through club activities and wellness campaigns, they believe they can help their peers live healthier and happier lives.

“I want to be in the wellness club to help the people around me,” said a club member. “I think it’s important to take care of all aspects of health and I would love to be able to help raise awareness about this. “

Another member said she joined the club to help others.

“I feel like I have met so many new people and have acquired so many tools that I can use in my efforts to put service above myself,” she said.

Kelly Mcpherson is the Community Health Club Consultant. She also teaches a community wellness course at CHHS, the only one of its kind. She is actively working to help make it available in other schools.

Mcpherson’s background is in community wellness and project management, where she learned the importance of involving the target population for successful wellness interventions.

“If the people you are trying to serve come up with solutions, they are much better solutions,” she said. “Students plan projects and interventions for their own population. It’s very student-oriented.

In her classroom, students identify problems and create interventions that address them. “They’re doing the data collection and the legwork to make sure these programs are going to work,” Mcpherson said.

She was impressed with the students’ ideas and the energy they brought to issues such as suicide prevention, anti-vaping and athlete hydration campaigns.

“They’re right at this age where they have some of the most flexible minds among us, so let’s let them find the solution,” she said.

The life of a student-athlete is a constant vacillation between preparing for the next big game and ensuring that your mind is sharp for an exam or quiz. Repetition of the exercise, proper nutrition and strategizing, mixed with hours of studying and rehearsing in the hope of getting the best grades possible, creates a very delicate balance.

Student-athletes should be prepared for hard work in the classroom and on the field. The way they approach both facets of their lives here at UMass Lowell is similar in that each requires attention to detail and dedication.

With the pressures of maintaining this balance, it is easy for student-athletes to feel overwhelmed, which can negatively impact their mental and physical health and performance.

For this reason, the athletics department at UMass Lowell has emphasized the importance of holistic health, focusing on healing practices for the body and mind as a single entity. It is the department’s hope that this can be a resource for student-athletes, supporting their efforts as a college student and athlete more completely beyond physical injury.

“Here at UMass Lowell, we talk a lot about the overall student-athlete experience and building the complete student-athlete,” explained the athletic director. Peter Casey. “Our River Hawks give their all, on and off the pitch, every day, and it is our job to provide them with full care and support, even beyond their sporting activities.”

Holistic health aims to nurture an individual by focusing on the entire health spectrum rather than separate components. It discusses nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management, while examining cognitive behaviors. This approach does not cure patients like traditional medicine does, although it can work in cooperation with drugs and treatments to achieve optimal health.

With that goal in mind, UMass Lowell Athletics hired David kells as Deputy Director of Student Athlete Advisory Services, a newly created position within the department. Kells received a master’s degree in social work from Smith’s College of Social Work and another in education from the University of Vermont. Previously, he worked at Saint Michael’s College and New England College where he provided outreach and counseling services to sports staff.

“We are committed to continuing to expand our healthcare network to incorporate a holistic approach for our student-athletes since I started at UMass Lowell,” said the assistant director of sports medicine and performance medicine.
